PUBLICATIONS / INTERCULTURAL WORK WITH CHILDREN AND PUPILS WITH OMJ IN KINDERGARTENS

The project is focused on the implementation of educational courses for intercultural and other professionals to obtain a combination of theoretical and practical competencies for intercultural work with a focus on education and the education system in the Czech Republic and for those interested in performing bilingual assistant in kindergartens and elementary schools in The City of Prague, focusing on methods of teaching Czech as a second language, with the aim of preparing these workers in terms of the necessary theoretical and practical competencies.

Specific objectives

a) To train intercultural workers specializing in the field of education and school system of the Czech Republic, who will provide quality assistance services with interpretation, incl. basic counseling for foreigners living in the City of Prague (specifically children with OMJ within pre-school and compulsory school attendance, and their legal representatives) as well as schools and other educational institutions (assistance in dealing with foreigners with educational / school institutions in the City of Prague, assistance in securing legitimate interests and needs in relation to the education of children with OMJ, etc.).

b) Implement a pilot training course for bilingual teaching assistants (existing teaching assistants or candidates for this position) focusing on the methodology of teaching Czech as a second language and school legislation, inclusion and basic techniques of mediation and community interpreting to enable their application in practice, thereby supporting teachers in schools where children and pupils with OMJ are educated.

c) Involve selected kindergartens and primary schools in the City of Prague in cooperation, which will thus have the opportunity to participate both in the course of practice within both types of educational courses and in the lecturing of selected relevant topics.

d) To support those interested in the work of a teaching assistant / bilingual assistant at 1). acquisition of professional competencies and 2). in search of job opportunities thanks to cooperation with selected kindergartens and primary schools within the internships.

KA 1: Implementation of two rounds of a training course for intercultural workers

1. Implementation of two rounds of the training course (course A, course B) in the total scope of 100 hours.

The course will include 50 hours of full-time teaching, 30 hours of practice in a selected kindergarten / primary school in the City of Prague under the guidance of a mentor of professional practice (employee of the host kindergarten / primary school) and 20 hours of project work in a group according to the assignment (topic relevant for IP in areas of education)

2. Creation of a professional methodological manual for course participants (DA).
