OPPPR: Bridges to understand


The overall aim is to contribute to strengthening the inclusion of migrants in society and to the understanding and tolerance of different cultures. The project consists of 8 activities and is focused on increasing language skills min. 60 children with OMJ, as well as non-formal and community education programs for children / pupils and educational seminars for pedagogical staff.

Activities for migrant children and young people

Intercultural club for younger children

Age: 5 – 11 years

When: every Tuesday from 16:30 to 18:00

The program of the Intercultural Club is focused on the all-round development of children with an emphasis on improving their knowledge of the Czech language. It includes physical activities, creative workshops, visits to cultural events, etc.


Creative Studio – Blue Group

Age: 5 – 7 years

When: every Wednesday from 16:30 to 17:45

The studio offers regular creative meetings focused on the development of language and creative skills for the children of migrants who do not speak Czech well.


Creative Studio – Red Group

Age: 7 – 11 years

When: every Thursday from 16:30 to 18:00

The Red Group offers creative meetings for migrant children and their Czech friends, which are focused on the development of creativity and social skills.


ClubIn: Intercultural youth club

Age: 12 – 16 years

Young people involved in an intercultural club meet regularly about 2 – 3 times a month. Workshops and meetings are focused on meaningful leisure time, practicing the Czech language and developing social competencies. Children are also worked on an individual basis.


Summer camps and weekend stays

Children involved in intercultural clubs go regularly for weekend stays 3 times a year, and in the summer InBáze organizes a summer camp for them.

Programs for kindergartens, primary schools, high schools

Tutoring with a focus on the development of competencies in the Czech language

Age: 5 – 18 years

When: in agreement with the volunteer coordinator
In cooperation with volunteers, InBáze provides individual and group tutoring focused on practicing the Czech language. Pupils will be supported in the area of conversational development and work with text as part of tutoring.


Educational programs for children and students

Boxes of stories I.

Age: kindergarten and primary school pupils

Time allowance: 2 lessons

A creative workshop focused on the cultures of other nations, during which children artistically create a bilingual fairy tale using art techniques that are typical of the country. The program also includes a symbolic tasting of traditional food. The workshop is led by 2 lecturers, one of whom comes from a given country. We currently offer the following countries: Russia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Syria, Mongolia.


Boxes of stories II.

Age: 2nd grade of elementary school

Time allowance: 1 – 2 teaching hours

Based on the personal story of the migrant teacher, the pupils imagine what it is like to live in another country. The program can be included in the cross-sectional topic of multicultural education.


Tutorials for high school students: Sharing stories

Age: high school students

Time allowance: 1 – 2 teaching hours

A discussion between pupils and a migrant lecturer, who tells them his life story in an engaging way about how he found a second home in the Czech Republic. It includes a video projection.


Seminars for pedagogical staff

Time allowance: 6 hours
Number of participants: 12 – 15 pedagogical staff

The seminar is intended for pedagogical staff of kindergartens, primary schools, high schools who work with children or pupils with different mother tongues (OMJ).

The seminar will take place mainly in an interactive form and will be led by an expert on intercultural communication Dr. Dana Moree, an assistant teacher from a primary school, a teacher and a speech therapist from a kindergarten with many years of experience in the field and a social / intercultural worker of NGOs working with migrants.


For the general public

Ethnic cuisine cooking classes for children

Age: 5 – 12 years

Time allowance: 3 hours, once a month

Ethnic cuisine cooking classes are designed for children and young people accompanied by an adult. Cooking courses will be led by migrant lecturers, who will present traditional dishes from various countries (Ukraine, Vietnam, Mongolia, etc.).


Boxes of stories in the city library

Age: 5 – 11 years

time allowance: 2 hours, quarterly
Part of the workshop is reading a fairy tale in Czech and in the original language of the country. The children will then artistically create the fairy tale using art techniques that are typical of the country. There is also a symbolic tasting of a traditional dish. Each workshop is led by 2 lecturers, one from the country.


Intercultural festival Refufest

Age: 5 – 18 years

As part of the RefuFest intercultural festival, we organize an annual program for children, which consists of art workshops, theaters and dance, music and art workshops.
