Project duration: 12 months

Project description

In cooperation with OAMP MV ČR, an innovative and necessary model of providing interpretation and counseling was created in March 2011 directly at the OPC in Prague, where more than ¾ foreigners with long-term and temporary residence come. The project builds on the already implemented Assistance Services I-IV projects.

1. Assistance services at the foreigners’ residence departments of the OAMP MV ČR in Prague

Providing direct assistance to foreigners at the busiest OAMP branches in Prague. The assistance and residential counseling service will be provided by intercultural staff in 6 languages (Czech, Russian, Vietnamese, Mongolian, English and French) at 3 departments of foreigners’ stay in Prague – Koněvova 188/32, Prague 3 – Žižkov; Cigánkova 1861/2, Prague 4 – Chodov, Nad Vršovskou horou 88/4, Prague 10 – Michle (since the reorganization of workplaces in June 2015 at OPC Koněvova and OPC Cigánkova).

2. Residential and legal advice

Residential and legal counseling is effectively complemented by the assistance services of intercultural workers. Counselors in matters of residence with a social and legal focus will work at OPC branches together with intercultural workers until the reorganization of workplaces. Since the reorganization of the OPC workplaces in June, advice on more complex cases has been provided in the quieter environment of the InBáze community center (Legerova 50, Prague 2).

3. Enlightenment at branches

Following the pilot enlightenment activity at the Koněvova branch this year, this year we will continue the enlightenment at the same branch and at the Cigánkova OPC. As part of the activity, there will be days of non-profit organizations working with migrants, who will be able to present their activities, and at the same time there will be a better organization of materials promoting their and our services. The aim of education is to make the services of non-profit organizations more accessible to potential clients.

4. Interpreting

For effective work with clients who do not speak enough Czech, it is necessary to provide interpretation into their native language. In particular, it concerns counseling in matters of residence, social and legal counseling, provision of assistance, etc. This service is already provided by certified social interpreters who are familiar with the Czech environment and have good communication skills.

5. Guardianship in proceedings on the cancellation of data on the place of reported residence of foreigners

Based on the social order, the project was supplemented by guardianship activity in proceedings for cancellation of data on the place of reported residence of foreigners from third countries who have a permanent residence permit (or EU citizens) in the Czech Republic according to the relevant provisions of the Aliens Act and the Administrative Procedure Code.

6. Project coordination

For the quality functioning of the project, it is necessary to ensure effective economic and content management of the project implementation. Given that the project is part of the structured offer of the InBáze community center, it is important that in addition to direct work with clients, the cooperation of all activities not only of this project but also of the entire InBáze center in cooperation with the organization’s management is ensured.

The InBáze Assistance Services project at the foreigners’ residence departments in Prague V is financially supported by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic as part of a subsidy for the integration of foreigners.
