COACHING FOR FAMILIES ON THE CZECH EDUCATION SYSTEM

Do you have temporary protection in the Czech Republic and are looking for support for your child at school?

Do you want your child to learn with interest, study effectively, and feel confident in the school environment? Are you encountering obstacles—such as a language barrier, a different educational system, or new school requirements? Would you like to know how to support your child at home, at school, and in a new society?

Do you know someone who could benefit from this kind of support?

We offer intercultural coaching — individual support for parents and children who want to better navigate the school environment in the Czech Republic.

Introductory meeting: getting acquainted and setting expectations

At the first meeting, it is important to establish trust between the student, parents, and the coach. Key topics for discussion:

  • Family expectations for the coaching

  • Main academic challenges of the student

  • Support methods already used and their effectiveness

  • Agreement on ways of working together and the format of future meetings

After the initial meeting, it is necessary to explore the student’s challenges more deeply and identify their causes. Possible areas of focus:

  • Assessing the student’s level of motivation for studying

  • Analyzing study skills (time management, attention, organization)

  • Examining the influence of the family environment on the learning process

Creating an individual support strategy. Key aspects:

  • Developing a study plan tailored to the student’s needs

  • Agreement on the frequency and format of coaching sessions

  • Methods for monitoring progress (success journal, self-reflection)

At each meeting, changes are evaluated, the plan is adjusted, and next steps are determined. Possible formats:

  • Weekly consultation (60 min)
  • Combined format (in-person meeting and online support)

After a certain period (e.g., 1.5 months), it is appropriate to evaluate progress and adjust the support plan.

  • Monthly progress review

  • Adjustment of the study plan based on developments

  • Introduction of new methods as needed

In this phase, the coaching gradually concludes, and the family receives recommendations for continued independent support of the child:

  • Summary of achieved results

  • Establishing strategies for the student’s further independent learning

  • Providing resources for self-development

  • Final motivational session with a concluding summary

Family coaching in education is a comprehensive approach that helps not only the student but the entire family effectively support the learning process.
