The project is focused on strengthening professional capacities for work with children with different mother tongues (OMJ) in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in the capital. of Prague. The content is the implementation of a total of six (6) training courses, incl. one qualification course and ongoing methodological support of the target group of the project. Individual courses are focused on the area intercultural work with emphasis on the education of children and pupils with OMJ and on work bilingual assistant. It also includes a pilot certified exam for the performance of intercultural work according to the qualification standard specified in the National Qualifications Framework (available online HERE).

 

Who is the project for?

The project is intended for those who are:

1. Pedagogical staff of schools and school facilities who meet the conditions set out in § 2 of Act No. 563/2004 Coll., On pedagogical staff. Those interested in this target group (CS) to participate in the project will be involved in the project if they meet the following requirements:

  • knowledge of Czech and at least 1 foreign language at the B2 level according to the international reference framework, English, ŠJ, RU, UKR, VN are preferred (oral interview, proof of language exam including passing the SZZK within university studies, possibly test of language level within course management / courses),
  • operates in the field of education at a nursery, primary, secondary or higher vocational school or in a school facility on the territory of the City of Prague (affidavit, structured curriculum vitae),
  • prove the motivation to participate in the project and its activities (motivation letter).

 

2. Professionals and field workers working in educational organizations / institutions.

These are typically positions:

  • leisure teacher,
  • social pedagogue,
  • lecturer of extracurricular and hobby activities,
  • lecturer of lifelong learning programs,
  • teaching tutor,
  • teacher of Czech as a second language,
  • worker of family counseling focused on the support of children and youth,
  • worker of assistance services for families with children (eg in negotiations with schools).

This group also includes employees who are involved in this activity on a volunteer basis. Those interested in this CS to participate in the project will be involved in the project if they meet the following prerequisites:

  • knowledge of Czech and at least 1 foreign language at the B1 level according to the international reference framework, English, ŠJ, RU, UKR, VN are preferred (oral interview, proof of language exam including passing the SZZK within university studies, possibly test of language level within course management / courses),
  • activity in organizations or institutions (eg NGOs, schools and school facilities, facilities providing extracurricular activities, universities, etc.) in the City of Prague min. on the basis of a volunteer contract (affidavit, structured professional CV),
  • prove the motivation to participate in the project and its activities (motivation letter).

What are the goals of the project?

The aim of the Inclusion Intercultural 2 project is to support existing capacities in education, operating both in Prague schools and in other organizations that deal with the education of children and pupils with OMJ and support in this area (both beginners and long-term staff), through the offer unique accredited training courses focused on intercultural work (IP) and the work of a bilingual teaching assistant (DAP). The purpose of the project is to create space and capacity to strengthen the support of effective communication between parents of children and pupils with OMJ and school, reduce and prevent communication and socio-cultural barriers and last but not least to strengthen awareness and information about the profession of IP and DAP, and their use in school. educational system of the Czech Republic. The goal will be achieved through:

  • trained CS project (especially pedagogical staff working in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools) in the areas of intercultural work and intercultural communication, inclusive education and related legislation and the process of integrating children and pupils with OMJ in the school environment directly at schools (KA1, 2 shifts in total)
  • training of the CS project (especially other professionals in education) in the field of IP with a focus on working with children and pupils with OMJ and their families in the process of pre-school, primary and secondary education in schools and outside the formal school environment (KA2 comprehensive course 1 shift)
  • training of the CS project in the field of DAP work (especially as a pedagogue) with a focus on competencies in teaching ČDJ and soft skills necessary for working with children from different cultural backgrounds (KA3)
  • provision of comprehensive, long-term professional and methodological support (for the duration of the project) to both project participants and cooperating entities (especially schools where professional internships will take place) focused on methods and techniques of working with children and pupils with OMJ, group exercises on selected topics (eg interpreting, ČDJ teaching), case seminars focused on cooperation between IP and intervision schools, etc. (DA1)
  • pilot implementation of a certified test for IP performance (code 75-020-R) according to the qualification standard in the National Qualifications Framework (DA2)

What activities do we implement in the project?

Within the project (in addition to its management and coordination), we implement a total of four key activities (CA) and two (2) sub-activities (DA):

KA1: Training courses in the field of intercultural work and intercultural communication

The activity includes the implementation of a total of two (2) rounds of an educational course entitled „Fundamentals of Intercultural Work and Intercultural Communication in Schools“. The scope of one course is 80 hours, of which 50 hours of direct teaching and 30 hours of professional practice in a selected kindergarten, primary or secondary school.

Successful graduates of the course will receive a certificate of completion of education accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as further education of pedagogical staff (DVPP). Attendance at the course is for participants free of charge.

KA2: Accredited retraining program aimed at obtaining a professional qualification „Intercultural worker“

The activity includes the implementation of one tour of a unique educational program aimed at obtaining a professional qualification „Intercultural worker“ The activity is implemented in cooperation with Filozofickou fakultou Univerzity Karlovy (FF UK). The time allocation for the program is 251 hours.

Of these, 201 hours consist of full-time teaching, 30 hours of practice at a selected kindergarten, primary or secondary school and 20 hours in an organization providing intercultural work services.

The introductory meeting and training in the field of occupational safety and health will take place on Friday 20. 3. 2020 od 13:30 until 16:00 in the community center InBáze, z. s., at Legerova 357/50, Prague 2.

Full-time teaching is divided into 12 weekend meetings and will take place from 27. 3. 2020 to 10. 1. 2021.

The final exam will take place in February 2021 (exam dates will be announced in January 2021).

After passing the final exam, graduates will receive a certificate of professional qualification „Intercultural Worker“
Participation in the program is free of charge.

KA3: Educational courses in the field of work of a bilingual teaching assistant

The activity includes the implementation of a total of three (3) shifts of the educational course entitled „Specifics of the work of a teaching assistant with children and pupils with different mother tongues“. The scope of one course is 65 hours, of which 45 hours of direct teaching and 20 hours of professional practice in a selected kindergarten or primary school.

Successful graduates of the course will receive a certificate of completion of education accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as further education of pedagogical staff (DVPP). Attendance at the course is for participants free of charge.

KA4: Project evaluation

The aim of the activity is the continuous collection and evaluation of the following key areas:

  • fulfillment of project indicators in relation to its goals and the goals of individual CAs,
  •  finding out the impact of KA and DA (especially courses KA1-KA3 and methodological support DA1) in practice when working with children and pupils with OMJ for the purpose of future setting and possible adjustments of similar courses in the future together with recommendations for providers of similar educational courses,
  • determination of the impact of interim and final outputs of the project in practice (especially methodological recommendations, shared know-how, IP and DAP profesiogram),
  • obtaining arguments to justify the contribution of the implemented courses in relation to 1) the target group of the project and 2) to support the education and inclusion of children and pupils with OMJ,
  • analysis of the motivation of those interested in the courses before their start (incl. expectations, needs, etc.) and monitoring their fulfillment after the end of the training course.

 

The content of the activity is to ensure outputs from the above areas through the following tools:

  1. questionnaire surveys and interviews between participants, schools and other stakeholders,
  2. focus groups in the initial and optimally and final meetings with course participants,
  3. quantitative and qualitative analysis of reflective reports and evaluation of course courses by participants,
  4. analysis of documentation and evaluation of internal processes in project implementation.

 

DA1: Methodological support for project participants

The aim of the partial activity is to provide methodological support to the involved project participants, including participants in the training courses of the Inclusion Intercultural 1 project implemented in 2018–2019.

The content of the partial activity is the offer of continuous support to all involved persons for the entire duration of the project (ie during individual courses and after their completion). Methodological support includes in particular:

  • individual consultations of participants with „training course specialists“, „project methodology“ (contacts below), „professional lecturers“ or „guarantors“ of training courses,
  • individual professional consultations with „professional consultants“,
    -additional educational seminars on selected topics,
  • group meetings led by „training course specialists“ and „project methodology“ (contacts below),
  • professional meetings in the form of round tables) or (conferences) in order to share good practice and professional know-how,
  • additional methodological support provided by the „project methodology“, through study materials and materials, including methodological recommendations for the performance of IP and DAP and the profesiogram of IP and DAP professions.

DA2: Certified examination for the performance of intercultural work

The activity includes the preparation of a certified exam incl. authorization of an authorized person authorized to carry out the examination and issue a certificate of acquisition of the professional qualification „Intercultural Worker“ and further piloting of the examination, which will take place as an output of the KA2 activity. We expect the involvement of up to 30 participants.

The aim of the activity is:

  • pilot implementation of the examination for intercultural workers according to the qualification and evaluation standard specified in the National Qualifications Framework („Intercultural worker“, code 75-020-R),
  • authorization of professional examiners for the possibility of repeating the exam even after the end of the project,
  • acquisition of experience and know-how for a possible revision of NSK standards and for a possible repetition of the test in the future,
  • obtaining documents for the final evaluation report of the project.

The test time per participant is 4-5 hours and preparation. The exam contains a written, oral and practical part. The graduate will receive a certificate of passing the „Intercultural Worker“ exam. More detailed information about the certified exam is available HERE.
